My grandmother Estelle.

The idea for My Grandmother’s Things arose out of the COVID pandemic. Inheriting a lifetime’s worth of “memories” from my grandmother left me with too much stuff to cram into my house.

Think china service for 12 with ALL the serving pieces!

How to find “the best” thing out of so many? While managing the memories into a smaller footprint, my crafty aunt also passed away. Her imaginative spirit inspired me to turn our summer “Art studio” into a playground. Among other solutions, I stacked plates. As I passed a wall medallion during the day, I would say, “Hi, grandmom.”

I knew that this piece was special—a healing memory. Now I want to help others find that same peace and joy by remembering their loved ones.

With those myriad of physical items, I made mosaics, tassels, wreathes, and assembled dioramas of treasured tidbits.

Works are curated and put together of family objects that have been part of daily life or carry specific significance. Either way, their time belonging to their previous owner and former use has passed and continues now, “full circle,” with others.
